This is the happy penguin splash and theres alot going on in a really good way. The penguin is caught mid-leap. Belly out. Wings flung wide. Orange feet kicking. His face is grinning ear to ear and the beak is open like hes about to yell something happy. Behind him a big watercolour splash explodes outward in turquoise pink yellow lime and coral.
The penguin himself stays tight and clean. Black back, crisp white belly, orange beak and feet, two dot eyes that just work. The splash is the showpiece though. Loose painterly strokes layered on top of each other so the colours blend abit at the edges. Atleast five splash colours flying outward and theyll catch the light differently depending on what fabric you stitch on.
I drew this one for a customer who runs kids swim school. She wanted something cheerful shed put on towel kits and rashie bags for her tiny swimmers. Sent me photos last winter of a whole tub full of mini towels with the penguin splashed across the corner. Adorable.
Stitch on light fabric so the watercolour splash reads loud. Pop it on white terry towels, cream cotton tees, pale yellow swim bags, soft mint canvas pouches. Skip dark navy or black because the splash colours go muddy on dark grounds. Pick the 4-inch for chest pocket placement and a 7.5-inch on a towel corner. Youll thank yourself.
Density runs medium-high at 37k stitches on biggest size and 14k on smallest. 13 colours total so prep your bobbin spools before hooping. Use a medium cutaway stabiliser on terry towel and a light tear-away on plain woven cotton. If file gives ya trouble just send me message and ill have fixed copy back to you fast.
