The haunted house sits dead centre with that crooked little tower poking up on the right, and Ive given the windows a warm orange glow so it looks like somethings actually awake inside. Three bats. Full moon. A wonky picket fence and a couple of bare twisted trees on either side. Theres a cobblestone path made of little orange stones winding toward the porch steps.
Stitch directions go vertical down the walls so the wood-plank look reads properly. Bat silhouettes and twisted tree branches sit in pure black satin so they pop against any fabric colour you pick. Roof is charcoal grey with hatching, and the moon is one solid moon-yellow fill behind everything. The cobble path uses a tatami fill with the stones picked out in orange. Density sits around 1176 so its dense without going stiff.
I get messages every September about halloween classroom shirts and this one is what i send people to. One customer ordered the 5x7 size last halloween for a full set of teacher tees and they reordered the bigger version for tote bags two weeks later. Stitch it on a cream tee for full vintage postcard vibe or charcoal for a moodier finish.
Best fabric is mid-weight cotton or a cotton-poly twill, atleast 8oz so the 57k stitch jumbo size has something to grip. Float a piece of standard cutaway underneath, not tearaway, because the bats and roof shadows are dense and a tearaway will pull abit at the corners. Skip stretchy jersey for the biggest two sizes or youll get distortion around the path. Pop in an 80/12 sharp needle, ease the machine speed back to about 500spm across the cobblestone fill, the colour change from black to orange happens fast there.
