The heart here is an outline, not a filled block, so the paw print sitting inside it gets to do all the visual work. One large pad at the bottom, four toe pads arranged above it, the whole paw rendered in a solid fill at 464 density while the heart around it is just a clean satin column outline a few millimetres wide. Its one colour but the contrast between the open heart and the filled paw gives it a layered look that most people assume took two threads when they see it stitched out.

Use a cutaway stabiliser throughout, the satin outline on the heart has thin column runs and tearaway doesnt hold those stable enough during stitching. Ive run this on a red thread on white canvas and on black thread on a pale grey fleece and both came out sharp.
