The wings curve inward and the tips meet so the whole silhouette reads as a heart. Its a clever little design, two angel wings but the overall shape is romantic. Single colour throughout, which honestly makes it more versatile than the multi-colour wing designs I also sell. Swap threads and it works everywhere from navy on white cotton to pale gold on cream sateen. Five sizes from 3 inches up to 6.5 inches wide, stitch counts 8,679 to 18,730.
Wilcom EmbroideryStudio took care of the digitising and the feather lines are done with even spacing so they dont bunch or skip when the machine runs through the curves. The satin-column sections in the feather shafts need good stabilisation. Pop a medium cutaway underneath and youll have clean lines all the way through. On lighter fabrics like cotton poplin or linen the single-colour outline sits really sharp and thats where this design looks its best.
Customers order this one for valentines projects more than anything else, but I also get alot of bridal orders. One customer texted me in february saying she stitched it in gold thread on ivory satin for bridesmaids bags and the whole wedding party loved them. Thats a use case I hadnt even thought of when I made it. The 5 to 6 inch sizes work best for bags and pillows, the 3 inch version is great for jewellery pouches or card toppers.
Use it on soft flat fabrics, linen, cotton, satin, even chambray. Avoid terry or thick fleece where the outline details can get swallowed. Stitch in red on white for valentines, gold on ivory for weddings, black on cream for a modern home decor feel. Add a name or date underneath the heart shape and youve got a personalised gift.
