A round little hedgehog sitting upright, both front paws wrapped around a single daisy. The spines on the back are done with short individual satin stitches radiating outward, which gives the prickly texture without the whole design going lumpy. Underneath all those spines is a warm brown base, and the belly is cream coloured with a lighter density so it reads as softer fur. 16 colours total in the build, most of them subtle browns and tans with yellow for the daisy petals and white for the centre.

This is a big stitch count, 24644 at the smallest size running up to 63,848 stitches at 7.35 wide by 7.45 inches tall. Density is 1166 stitches per square inch, which means Ive mapped it for medium weight fabrics like canvas, cotton twill and denim. Dont try running it on anything flimsy without a thick backer underneath. A customer last summer brought me a sweatshirt she'd done the 5-inch version on and the coverage was genuinely brilliant, no fabric peeking through at all.

Press a firm cutaway backer for knit and stretch items, tearaway works fine on woven quilting cotton or canvas. Lay water-soluble topping on any terry or fluffy surface so the needle doesnt catch on the loops. Ive used Wilcom EmbroideryStudio to handle the underlay sequencing and the directional spine stitches, so the path order is already sorted for minimal thread breaks.

Run a 4-inch piece on a kid's rucksack front pocket for a sweet woodland look. Pop it on a zip pouch in cream canvas for a spring gift. Pick the largest size for a nursery wall hoop in a woodland-theme room. Add it to a baby bodysuit with a little name text below.

The spring daisy detail makes it a popular choice for april craft markets. Ping me with any file questions and Ill take a look straight away.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids backpack or school bagThe 3.43-inch smallest size fits neatly on a front pocket or flap of a child's bag without overcrowding the space.
  • Nursery hoop art with woodland themeStitch the largest 7.35-inch version onto a hoop and hang in a woodland nursery above the cot.
  • Baby bodysuit or onesieWorks well centred on a baby bodysuit chest using a 4-inch hoop and tearaway stabiliser on the cotton knit.
  • Spring market craft projectsYellow daisy against brown hedgehog reads well from a distance on a spring market table.
  • Zip pouch or small tote giftA cream canvas zip pouch with this centred on the front makes a clean, gift-ready item that needs no extra decoration.
  • Nature-themed quilting panelCuts well as a patch piece for a woodland-themed quilt block or cushion panel.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
