The hedgehog spines are really really the thing here. Each spine is digitised separately with a tight satin column that radiates outward from the back the way they actually grow on a real animal, not just a repeated pattern stitched on top. Run your finger over the finished piece and youll feel each one individually. Its kind of impressive honestly when you see it in person.
9 colours: warm brown through to dark brown on the spine area, cream on the face and belly, pink snout, charcoal eyes and black outline. The face uses a soft character look with round eyes slightly oversized, which reads as cute and friendly, not naturalistic. The body and face balance well together even though theyre done with completely different stitching styles.
Density sits at 1,430 which is the highest Ive worked with on this type of design. The full 7.5 inch version hits 72,302 stitches. Cutaway stabiliser is non-negotiable on anything thats not stiff canvas or twill, it needs the support all the way through the stitchout. Hoop firmly and slow your machine speed on those tight satin spine columns or theyll pull.
I make a good number of these for autumn woodland nurseries. One customer ordered all 5 sizes for a mobile she was making, she wanted em cascading down from different lengths of thread. Looked genuinely lovely in the photo she sent last october. Works well for that kind of craft project because the hedgehog silhouette reads clearly from a distance.
5 sizes from 3.49 to 7.5 inches wide. Best on oatmeal, cream, sage green and warm white fabrics. Skip black or very dark backgrounds, the brown tones disappear. Use a water-soluble topping on fleece to keep those individual spine details crisp and separated.

- Forest themed tote bagA 5 inch hedgehog on the front of a cream canvas tote suits the kind of outdoorsy nature-loving person who appreciates a properly made thing.
- Cotton childrens pyjama frontStitch the mid-size on the front panel of plain cotton childrens pyjamas for a woodland gift set that feels individual and carefully chosen.
- Linen autumn table runnerAdd the small version as a repeating accent along the edge of a linen table runner for an autumn table setting with a woodland nature feel.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
