This is one of those designs I made mostly for myself, summer is my favourite season and I wanted something light and festive that worked on a tote or a shirt without being too heavy. Six colours, density 42, so its genuinely quick to stitch, the largest 7.5 inch version is 15,271 stitches, and the smallest 3.5 inch version clocks in around 1,034. Low stitch counts like this are forgiving on thinner fabrics and you can get away with tearaway stabiliser on most woven cottons.

The lettering uses a mix of column stitches for the thicker parts of the script and smaller satin sections for the thinner hairline strokes. Skip the topping film unless youre stitching on terry cloth, for quilting cotton or linen you dont need it and it slows the whole process down. Stitch the hairline sections at a reduced speed if your machine tends to skip stitches on fine satin columns. I had a customer email me a message saying she made a whole set of summer kitchen towels with this, one per towel, and they looked great going into july, I thought that was a sweet idea actually.

The lowercase lettering style means its readable at even the 3.5 inch size, valentines day and halloween designs can get unreadable at small sizes but this one holds up because the letterforms are big and open. The density of 42 is by design, too dense and the fabric puckers on lightweight cotton, the underlay does the work here instead. Use 40wt thread for the script body and 60wt for the hairline accent strokes if your machine supports it, the difference in weight gives the lettering more dimension. Email me if you want a lighter colour version or have questions about the colour stops before you begin.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Summer kitchen towel corner placementKitchen cotton tea towel corner with tearaway and 40wt polyester; the low density means the towel stays soft and drapes naturally.
  • Beach tote bag front scriptCanvas tote front centred for a summer market bag; density 42 wont stiffen the bag fabric at all, it barely feels like its there.
  • Cotton shirt left chest letteringShirt left chest for a beach day or summer event; quick to stitch on woven cotton shirting with tearaway.
  • Seasonal throw pillow coverLinen throw pillow cover for a seasonal dining or living room refresh; cutaway for wash life, centred on the front panel.
  • Summer camp name tag patchCotton patch for a summer camp name tag or bag label; stitch on cotton first then heat-bond or sew onto the item.
  • Linen table runner centred textLinen table runner centred for a summer dining table; the cheerful lettering works really well at the longer format.
  • Beach bag exterior panelCanvas beach bag exterior panel in the coral and teal colourway; the script reads casually without trying too hard.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
