The first thing ya notice is the fringe. That big floppy wave of ginger fur hanging down over the eyes is what a highland cow is all about, and the digitising here puts alot of work into getting that layered shaggy texture right. Directional satin fills run at different angles across the fringe and the face to simulate how the actual fur falls. Four colours total, three shades of warm brown and ginger for the coat, plus a dark accent for the nostrils and eyes.

Five sizes, 3.5 to 7.5 inches wide and 3 to 6.5 inches tall. Stitch count is the biggest in this range, 24,500 at the smallest up to a serious 55,500 at the largest. The density sits at 1,145, so use a quality cutaway stabiliser and take the machine slow on the dense fringe sections. Slow it slightly for the 7 inch size and youll get a cleaner result.

This isnt a quick beginner stitch, its a project piece. A bunch of customers who buy it are experienced stitchers wanting something that looks impressive when finished. One customer last month posted a finished 7 inch version on a cream sweatshirt and the comments on her post were wild, dozens of people asking where theyd get it from.

Looks stunning on neutral toned fabric, cream, oatmeal, sage green, stone grey. Avoid dark backgrounds unless youre wanting the lighter fringe details to really pop against em. Add topping on fleece or any loopy fabric so the fine fur strokes dont disappear into the pile.

Use it on sweatshirts, tote bags, pillow covers, baby blankets. Stitch on quality cotton or canvas for the cleanest result.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Statement sweatshirts for highland cow fansThe 7 inch version centred on a cream or oatmeal sweatshirt is the kind of piece that gets genuine compliments from strangers.
  • Country and farm themed tote bagsOn a natural canvas or burlap tote it gives that farmhouse country aesthetic that sells really well at rural gift shops and markets.
  • Nursery cushion coversStitch a medium version on a plain cotton cushion cover for a nursery or childs room, its gentle enough for a babies space.
  • Baby blanket corner embroideryA smaller 4 inch version in the corner of a soft cotton baby blanket makes a genuinely beautiful gender-neutral new arrival gift.
  • Custom pillow covers for rustic decorOn a linen or cotton pillow cover for a living room it fits into rustic and neutral-toned interiors without feeling out of place.
  • Holiday craft fair premium apparelCustom apparel sellers doing farm and country themed markets can use the 6 inch version as a premium product to anchor their range.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
