I get messages every year around november asking for a simple christmas phrase design that isnt gonna take forever to stitch. This one was made for exactly that. Its a 'Ho Ho Ho' in a wide banner layout, 3.5 inches across, only 1.76 inches tall, and kinda just 5,511 stitches total. You can run this in maybe fifteen to twenty minutes depending on your machine speed.
Seven colours sounds like alot for such a small stitch count, but thats what gives each 'Ho' its own personality. The density is 139, which is on the lighter side, so this works really well on woven cotton, linen, or even felt without any puckering. The satin elements in the letterforms are short enough that ya dont need a topping film on most fabrics, unless youre doing a polar fleece or a terry cloth situation, in which case use a lil piece of water-soluble on top. Digitised in Wilcom so the underlay is clean and the colour stops are set to minimise thread changes.
Use a light tearaway stabiliser for anything flat and stable, gift bags, cotton patches, linen napkins. Skip the heavy cutaway here unless the base fabric is stretchy. Pop this on a christmas stocking cuff and it fits perfectly given the wide-short footprint. Add it to a small felt gift tag, a fabric ornament, or the pocket of a holiday apron. Stitch it twice in a row on a long table runner for a fun repeating pattern.
Send me a note if you need a different colourway, I sometimes have alternate versions available or can point you in the right direction.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Christmas stocking cuff wide bannerChristmas stocking cuff where the 3.5 inch wide banner shape fits most cuff widths in one clean hoop pass.
- Holiday gift bag front panel stitchLinen napkin corner detail for a festive table setting that doesnt look bought at a gift shop.
- Festive linen napkin corner accentDog bandana point works really well at this scale, the three words read across the full point width.
- Felt ornament front phrase designFelt gift tag you stitch separately, trim, and tie to a wrapped present, a nice touch for a handmade gift.
- Holiday apron front pocket embroideryLeather diary cover for a gift set, a slim horizontal phrase sits well on structured material.
- Christmas table runner repeating motifApron bib for someone running a Christmas market stall, recognisable from a distance and quick to run.
- Gift tag fabric patch holiday letteringFabric patch on a holiday tote bag, the lightweight design wont stiffen the bag around the print.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
