So this isnt a wreath, its just the branch -- one stem cutting diagonally across the hoop with three big holly leaves coming off it and a berry cluster sitting right where they meet the main stem. The leaves have that proper holly spike shape, not rounded like bay leaves, the tips actually come to a point. The berries are fat and round, about 12 of them gathered in a loose cluster, and the black outline thread is doing alot of heavy lifting here -- it goes around every leaf edge and every berry which is what separates them visually from each other.

Wilcom EmbroideryStudio output the leaf satin at a density of 593 with each column following the midrib, so the thread sheen shifts as the light catches different angles. 3 colours (Red, Dark Green, Black), 2 colour changes, 5 sizes from 3.5 to 7.5 inches wide, stitch range 10,723 to 29,625. That top end stitch count is pretty dense for a branch design but the thick outline treatment is what drives it up. Density is 593 per square inch. Use cutaway stabiliser on linen, tear-away wont hold the weight of the outline satin properly.

One customer ordered this last november for a set of linen napkins she was making as table gifts. She stitched the 3.5-inch in forest green and cherry red on natural kraft linen and said it came out looking alot like a hand-embroidered piece rather than machine work. Thats the thing with a single branch -- its small enough to look intentional and not overdone.

Best on linen, canvas, denim, or a thick cotton twill. Pop it in the corner of a napkin or the lower edge of a tea towel for a simple seasonal accent. Use it on a gift tag panel stitched onto cardstock-backed felt. Avoid thin poly fabric since the dense outline will cause puckering without a proper cutaway base. Run the black colour last in the sequence as your outline so it sits clean on top of the fill areas.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kraft linen napkins as a seasonal table accentThe 3.5-inch branch placed in the lower right corner of a 20x20 linen napkin is a clean, not-too-busy accent
  • Hemmed tea towels for a handmade christmas gift setA pair of tea towels each stitched with the 4-inch size makes a practical and nicely presented gift set
  • Denim tote bag corner motif for winter marketsThe 5-inch size angled into the bottom corner of a canvas tote works well without dominating the bag face
  • Canvas advent calendar pocket panelsStitch the 3.5-inch size on small cotton canvas panels to use as individual advent calendar pockets
  • Gift tag felt pieces backed with cardstockBack a 4x4 inch felt square with thin cardstock and stitch the smallest size -- punch a hole and its a gift tag
  • Linen wrapping cloth in a furoshiki-style wrapThe 7-inch size on a large square of linen makes a wrapping cloth thats reusable and looks genuinely considered
  • Stocking cuff band on a thick wool felt stockingThe 3.5-inch fits on a stocking cuff band without crowding the heel or the hanging loop area

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
