Holly Jolly christmas, the phrase does its job before the needle hits the fabric. But the design itself earns it properly. The lettering carries holly leaves and berries woven into the composition, so the botanical and the text are one piece rather than text with decoration dumped beside it. Five colours across the holly greens, berry reds and the warm letter tones.

Stitch count runs to 47,975 at the 7.5 inch size, which is where it looks the best honestly. The density sits at 857 so its not the most extreme but it still needs a good cutaway stabiliser on knit fabrics. Customers tell me this one works alot better on darker fabrics where the 5 colour palette actually pops, specifically navy and forest green have come up several times in feedback.

Five sizes from 3.51 inches wide up to 7.51 inches, with the height running nearly as square from 3.48 to 7.45 inches. So its very close to square at all sizes, meaning it centres cleanly on a front chest without looking unbalanced. Satin column work on the holly stems keeps the botanical detail crisp even at the smaller sizes.

Stitch on heavy cotton, denim, canvas or fleece. Keep a steady medium speed through the botanical sections and check your bobbin tension before you start. Use tearaway on woven cotton or linen, cutaway on jersey or fleece. Hoop tight and flat to keep the lettering from shifting during the dense fill sections.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas sweatshirt front panelThe 7.5 inch size centred on navy or forest green sweatshirt lets all 5 colours sing against the dark background.
  • Holiday gift wrapping toteOn a plain canvas tote bag tied with ribbon it works as festive gift packaging that the recipient will actually reuse.
  • Festive fleece or wool blanketA medium size on a cream or oatmeal fleece throw adds a seasonal centrepiece without the throw losing its everyday quality.
  • Winter throw pillow coverOn a linen or velvet cushion cover in cream it reads as a classic christmas decorative accent for a sitting room.
  • Christmas hoop wall artIn a large wooden hoop on natural linen the holly and lettering combination makes a wall piece that looks intentional.
  • Seasonal apron or kitchen textileOn a canvas or denim apron the phrase reads perfectly given what most people are doing in the kitchen at christmas.
  • Holiday stocking front panelThe 3.5 inch version fits a stocking front cleanly with the square proportions helping it centre without awkward gaps.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
