Heres the hugging penguin and honestly he gets more repeat orders than the whole rest of my penguin set put together, especially around november. Round chubby body. Wings wrapped right across his belly, eyes scrunched shut, that big open mouth smile that just shouts pure joy. Two pink cheek dots, pointed tuft of feathers on his head. Stitch range runs 9k to 25k.

Two thread colours only, black does the head back wings and outlines, cream covers the belly and face. Theres a halftone dot fill in the black sections which gives it that printed picture-book feel, almost like a vintage childrens book illustration. Density sits at 751 so its medium, sews up in a sensible time on a domestic machine.

Stitch on cotton tee, fleece sweatshirt or jersey blanket and the dot fill reads crisp. Skip terry cloth or anything fluffy, the dots sink into the pile and look muddy. Pale solid backgrounds work best, white, pale pink, mint, sky blue all let the black halftone pop. Use a cutaway stabiliser on knits so the design keeps its shape after washing.

I made this one for winter cozy gifts and self-love valentine pieces, both have been popular. A customer ordered six matched hoodies for her college roommates last month and sent me a photo of all of them in the dorm. The hugging gesture reads as comfort which is why it works for friend-group merch, anniversary coaster sets and baby memory book covers too.

Pop the 3.5 inch on a left chest pocket, run the 7.5 across a centre back panel or pillow front. Run polyester thread on knits so the colours hold up wash after wash. Any troubles with the file just message me and ill fix it.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
