The hummingbird is caught mid-flight with wings spread wide on both sides, hovering in place while the beak extends forward toward a cluster of open orchid blooms. The orchid stem curves down at an angle, 2 full flowers open with petals fanned out and a tight bud near the top. Its not a cute cartoon version, its closer to a botanical illustration, the kind you'd see in a nature print. Every feather on the spread wing has its own drawn line, the orchid petals have vein lines running through them, the bud has that tight wrapped look at the tip of the stem. All of it in a single black thread with no fill at all.

At the smallest size its only 2,673 stitches, about as light as an embroidery design gets. Even at the largest 7.5-inch size the max is 4,566 stitches. Density is 88, very low, which means the whole thing is run-stitch outline work with no dense satin blocks to pull the fabric. Wilcom EmbroideryStudio digitised it with just 3 trims across the whole design, so the machine barely stops. Use a light tearaway for most wovens, though on loose linen hoop a cutaway instead to give the fine lines somewhere stable to sit.

The low density means bobbin thread reading through is barely an issue, which matters on sheer or two-sided pieces. Run this on fabric types heavier designs cant handle: organza, fine linen, silk dupioni. One customer messaged me last spring after stitching the 4-inch version on a white silk scarf and said it looked like hand embroidery when worn. Thats exactly the kind of result this design produces when the fabric is right. Stitch it on a pale or neutral base so the black outline reads against the ground. Skip dark or printed fabric unless youre using a contrast thread colour.

9 sizes between 3.51 inch and 7.51 wide. All 8 formats in the zip. Message if anything with the file doesnt work and Ill sort it.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
