Its a humpback mid-breach, body angled up and out of the water, that big barnacled head rising left while the fluked tail sweeps right at the waterline. The whole thing is a single black silhouette but its not just a flat blob. Wilcom laid the fill in directional passes so the long grooves along the underside of the belly, the ones that expand when the whale gulps, are actually readable in the stitching. Its a kinda nice level of detail for a 1-colour design.
Five sizes from 3.5 inches wide up to 7.5 inches, stitch count going from 8,119 on the smallest up to 19,072 on the largest. Density is 720 which sits in the comfortable middle range, not too heavy for jersey or fleece. The design is genuinely wide rather than tall, the biggest size is 7.5 inches across but only 3.53 inches tall, so it works well across the chest of a tshirt or on a wide canvas tote without needing a large hoop. I get orders from ocean conservation folks more than I expected. A marine sanctuary coordinator sent me a message last autumn saying she used the wide version on canvas tote bags for a fundraising event and they completely sold out.
Use a medium cutaway stabiliser on knit fabric, tearaway on firm woven cotton or canvas. Hoop reasonably tight because the wide horizontal orientation means any fabric shift mid-stitch shows at the waterline. Skip hooping the actual fabric on canvas bags if the canvas is stiff enough, just tape it with temporary adhesive and keep the tension firm.
White on navy is the classic read and it genuinely looks good. Navy on cream canvas is quieter and feels more like a print. Black on a pale grey or oatmeal is my favourite version honestly, thats the one Id go with for a gift. Avoid black on black obviously, but ya knew that.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
