Heavy stitch count on this one -- 52,759 at the largest 7.5 inch size and 20,450 at the 3.5 inch smallest. The fur detail in the dog is digitising-intensive, lots of short satin columns laid in different directional angles to simulate how fur sits on a retriever. I spent kinda a long time on the muzzle area in particular to get the short close fur right there looking different from the longer body coat. A customer who does a lot of hunting gift work wrote me this january saying this was the best hunting dog design she had found for this price point.

Density is 1,101 -- really really dense by any standard -- so youll want a full cutaway stabiliser underneath, no tearaway. On a thick canvas like you'd use for a hunting vest or a gun bag, that density actually behaves well because the base fabric gives it something to grip. On lighter fabric like a cotton drill shirt, hoop it firmly and use a topping layer over the top so the needle punches clean through the weave without distorting it.

Five sizes total. Biggest works well on jacket backs or centre panels of hunting bags. Use the 4 inch version for a cap front panel -- itll fit inside a standard 3.5 x 5 inch hoop with a bit of room. Customising the colourway is simple since its a multi-zone design -- swap the dog colours for your actual dog breed tones if you want a personalised gift version.

Runs on most commercial machines without drama. Add a bobbin thread that matches your backing fabric so any underside showing at the edge blends in. Reach out if you need the file in a specific format your machine uses and I'll send you the right one from the pack.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
