Heres the jumping dolphin and its caught right at the top of the leap. Body arched, tail flicked back, nose pointed up to the sky. Underneath theres a small curling wave with white spray, drawn so it looks like the dolphin actually launched out of the ocean a half-second ago. The pose feels active, not posed.

Colour-wise its got royal blue along the back, silver-grey on the belly with that faint pinkish wash dolphins really have, and deep navy where the dorsal fin throws shadow. Shading is done with tight directional lines that follow the muscle, so it reads almost like a vintage scrimshaw print rather than a flat cartoon. 8 colours in total, runs 13k stitches at the smallest hoop and climbs to 38k on the 7.5 inch version.

And the splash underneath is what really sells it. White foam strokes spread out under the body, with little navy wave-line accents below. So you get the leap and the water in one image, no need for a background fill. My sister stitched the 5x7 piece on a navy beach tote last weekend for our nephews birthday party and that pale underside basically glowed against the dark canvas.

Pop the dolphin on cream, white, sky blue or sand-tone fabric for the cleanest read. Light heathered grey works aswell. Skip very dark backgrounds because the silver belly tones get lost. But navy and royal blue actually work surprisingly well as long as you dont mind the upper-back colour blending in a bit.

Use a medium cutaway stabiliser on cotton, canvas tote or pique polo. Hoop tight because the foam detail has alot of small directional jumps and a loose hoop will distort em. Hit me on chat if a stitch test goes off, ill take a look at the file same day.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
