Theres a black fishing rod sweeping up and across the top of the composition, its spinning reel sitting at the bottom left with that little round spool detail stitched in charcoal and white. The line runs from the rod tip all the way down and connects to a leaping fish right at the centre, mouth wide open. That fish is done in layered aqua and deep forest teal with directional tatami fills following the curve of every scale section. Its got a white belly underside and dark teal fins, and the scale detail is genuinely the best part of this one.

The text is split into two weights and two colours. "Keeping" sits at the top in big bright grass-green satin lettering, bold and punchy. "it Reel" drops below in that same chunky script but in deep dark teal instead, so you get this nice colour shift running through the pun. The whole composition sits in a roughly oval footprint which makes it work really well on cap fronts, chest placements, and tote panels without awkward dead space on the sides.

Digitised with industry digitising tools so the density lands around 335 stitches per square centimetre and the satin columns on the lettering stay crisp without going stiff. A guy who runs a fishing gear stall at the weekend market messaged me last month saying he ordered a batch on charcoal canvas totes and sold the lot in two weekends. At the larger 7.51 inch wide size youre looking at 15,822 stitches so hoop it on a firm cutaway stabiliser, not tearaway, because that rod outline is thin and needs backing after washing. Stitch the 3.51 inch version on a twill trucker cap and center the reel right above the sweatband. Add a water-soluble topping on any terry or fleece so the satin fills dont sink into pile. Try a dark navy or charcoal base and let the bright green do all the work. Iron the cutaway flat before hooping and trim close to the stitching on the underside once done.

Just message me if the fill looks too heavy for your cloth.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Fishing dad gift shirtTote bags take the 6 inch nicely and the composition sits flush without crowding the handles.
  • Trucker cap embroideryCaps work best with the 3.51 inch wide version centred on the front panel over a firm cutaway insert.
  • Canvas or denim tote bagCanvas or dark denim gives the teal fish real contrast and the green script pops against both.
  • Cotton fishing apronA cotton apron in olive or khaki shows off the teal fish against a neutral base without clashing.
  • Fleece fishing vest back panelFleece vest backs need topping so the satin columns on 'Keeping' stay raised and dont flatten in the pile.
  • Camping mug cozyCanvas mug cozies stitch up fast with the smallest size and barely use any bobbin thread at all.
  • Kids fishing tournament teeNavy twill tees are honestly my favourite base for this since the grass green reads so clean against dark fabric.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
