So this one runs two threads. Black for the Kiss serif and the cursive Chef plus a chef toque outline, red for the lipstick print and the little The in the middle. Six sizes, 3.01 inches at the smallest up to 8.01 wide. Stitch count climbs from 6,123 at the 3-inch all the way to 19,818 at the 8-inch and thats with density running 337 which is on the heavier side for satin lettering. Hat is line-only, no fill, so it reads as a real sketch rather than a solid blob of stitching.

Digitised in Wilcom EmbroideryStudio. Underlay on the bold Kiss serif is directional, which matters alot here cause those vertical strokes are wide enough to flag if you skip the underpinning. The lipstick mark is a freeform satin in red with offset rows that mimic the actual texture of a lip print, you can see the lip-line gap right through the middle. Hoop with medium cutaway under cotton and a layer of water-soluble topping if youre running this on pique knit or terry. Bobbin tension wants to sit a touch tight for the script Chef cause the descender on the f swings wide and loose stitches there will pull.

One customer ordered the 4-inch version for a batch of 12 cotton aprons she sells at a farmers market. She runs em on natural canvas and said the red lipstick reads from three metres away which is exactly what you want on apparel meant to be seen across a stall. Another buyer dropped me a note about putting the 5-inch on the back of a chef coat sleeve, said the toque motif actually helped customers in her restaurant recognise the kitchen team. So thats two real-world examples right there.

Best on natural canvas, cotton drill, kitchen-weight twill, denim, or any white or cream apron fabric where red gets full saturation. Skip stretchy interlock without a firm cutaway behind it. Avoid black fabric cause the toque sketch will vanish completely, the design wants negative space to read. Pair the 3.5-inch on chest pocket of an apron and the 8-inch across a tea towel and youve got a matched gift set. Hit me up if your machine throws weird thread breaks on the lipstick fill and ill reroute the stitch order for you.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • natural canvas chef aprons and barbecue cooking apronsStitch the 5-inch on a natural canvas barbecue apron chest panel with medium cutaway, red lipstick reads loud from across a backyard
  • cotton tea towels and kitchen flour-sack linensPop the 3-inch version on cotton tea towels in matched pairs and pack them as a kitchen-warming gift with a wooden spoon
  • chef coat sleeve or chest pocket apparel embroideryEmbroider the 4-inch on a chef coat sleeve or left chest pocket using polyester thread that survives industrial laundry cycles
  • personalised wedding registry kitchen gift towel setsRun the 6-inch centred on a flour-sack tea towel for a personalised wedding registry gift the couple actually uses every day
  • denim or canvas tote bags for cookbook clubsPick the 5-inch for a cotton tote bag side panel for a cookbook club or culinary school welcome bag
  • hand-stitched oven mitt and pot holder accentsAdd the 3-inch to an oven mitt cuff with water-soluble topping over the terry pile so the script stays crisp
  • restaurant staff apparel uniform chest patchesUse the 4-inch as a restaurant staff uniform chest patch and stitch a batch of 20 in one hooping session
  • anniversary or housewarming gift apron bundlesDrop the 6.5-inch on a canvas apron pocket as an anniversary gift for the home cook who lives in the kitchen

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
