This one's the playful stance kitten, one paw lifted, head tilted, that mid-pounce look. Ive got a few kitten designs and I always get messages asking what the difference is, so: this one is moving, the other seated cat designs are sitting still. Completely different character feel once its stitched out. Ten colours, density of 112, and the largest size is 40,670 stitches at 7.5 inches. Smallest drops to 1,013 stitches at 3.5 inches, a lil smaller than ya might expect for ten colours but the design scales down well because of how the fill zones are structured.

The digitising approach here in Wilcom uses a directional fur fill that follows the actual growth direction of cat fur, belly fills radiate outward from centre, back fills run toward the spine line, ear fills angle from base to tip. Its not something you see in lower-quality cat designs and its what makes the shading read correctly at different viewing distances. Use a medium-weight cutaway stabiliser. The pounce posture puts stitch pressure unevenly across the hooped area, one side of the design is much denser than the other, so tear-away tends to shift and leave you with registration drift.

I had a customer who bought this back in march for a cat-themed shop she was running at a craft fair, said the playful pose sold faster than the sitting cat versions because it catches the eye at distance. Nine sizes from 3.5 reaching 7.5 inches. Stitch it on medium-weight cotton or a cotton-linen blend and the fur tones come through clean. Keep the bobbin thread in a neutral cream and you wont see pullback through any of the ten colour sections.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cat lover tote bag front panelCat lover tote bag centred at 6 inches, this was the fastest seller at a craft fair the customer told me about.
  • Kids room cushion cover playful motifKids cushion cover in a playful mood, the mid-pounce stance catches the eye from across a room.
  • Pet accessory bag zipper pouchZipper pouch front in canvas, the compact shape fills the panel cleanly without needing a large hoop frame.

  • Baby room wall hoop cotton muslinBaby room wall hoop on cotton muslin, press lightly from the back after tearaway removal to settle the fills.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
