The ladybug car is one of those designs that makes people do a double take. At first glance its a red Beetle-shaped car, side profile, rounded bonnet and all. Then you notice the white spots scattered across the body, two little oval antenna dots perched on the roof, and bug-eye style round eyes on the windshield. Its kinda half car, half ladybug, and kids go absolutely wild for it.

Nine colours went into this one: red, white, black, blue, yellow, and a few greys for the wheels and shadow areas. The density is 1,358 which is high - this is one of my denser kids designs because of those layered wheel rings and all the spot circles on the body. Stitch count runs from 18,761 at the smallest to 53,306 at the big end across five sizes. Youll want a firm polymesh cutaway on this, especially at the bigger sizes where the fill sections are substantial.

I made this one specifically for the nursery crowd and the toddler tee market. A customer messaged me a few weeks back - she stitched it on a cream fleece bodysuit and said the spots stood out gorgeous against the red body. She went up to a 90/14 needle to get through the fleece layers without skipped stitches. Good tip. On standard jersey or cotton poplin a 75/11 handles it fine.

Hoop firm and dont reposition mid-project or the spots wont line up properly. Trim the connecting jump threads between spot circles before they get buried under the next pass. Back with polymesh cutaway rather than tearaway - tearaway moves under a high-density design like this. Message me if anything looks off with the file.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Toddler and baby onesies and bodysuitsThe rounded silhouette fits well on the chest front of bodysuits from newborn to 24 months at smaller sizes.
  • Kids t-shirts in size 2T through 10Use the 5.59 inch size on the front chest of a kids tee; it fills the space well without spilling to the sides.
  • Nursery themed cushions and wall hoop artMount in a 7-inch hoop for a finished nursery wall piece; the insect-car hybrid theme is a real conversation starter.
  • Small backpacks and drawstring kids bagsThe compact 2.4 inch size fits neatly on a small drawstring bag front for a personalised kids school bag.
  • Childs quilts and blanket appliqueWorks well as a quilt block motif - stitch on a white square and piece it into a transport-themed childs quilt.
  • Birthday party favour pouches for bug or nature themesStitch on small kraft paper-lined bags for bug or garden themed birthday party treat bags.
  • Fleece or cotton childs hooded jacket backsUse the large size on a childs fleece jacket back with a 90/14 needle and polymesh cutaway for clean results.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
