The ladybug sits dead centre on a flower that has two layers of petals. Outer petals are wide and pale, done in a light grey-white satin fill with fine black running stitch outlines tracing the petal veins. The inner ring of petals comes in red, same shade as the ladybug body, so the composition feels like one unified design, not two separate elements stuck together. Six colours total and honestly its one of the cleaner contrast combinations Ive done in this style.

The bugs shell is a bold satin fill in bright red with a black centre line splitting the two wing cases. Black spots sit on each side, outlined in satin so they hold their round shape even on the medium sizes. Head and underside use a denser tatami fill in black. The flower centre is a tight circular satin fill in black to anchor the whole composition. Density comes in at 1,095 stitches per square inch, which is on the higher end, so the fills have real weight to them and the petal outlines dont flex or pucker once the hoop comes off.

Nine sizes from 2.08 by 3.5 inches up to 4.45 by 7.5 inches, stitch counts running from 14,119 to 36,535. I had a customer last spring who runs a small sewing school use the 3-inch version on white cotton tote bags for her students as an end-of-term gift. She said the red pops so cleanly off the white it looks screen-printed. That tracks, the contrast between the red satin and the pale petal grey is pretty much as high as you can get without going neon.

Pick a white, off-white or soft cream fabric to let the red maximise its contrast. Pale sage green, butter yellow or light pink also work nicely with the botanical feel. Avoid busy printed fabrics, the fine petal vein detail will disappear into any background pattern. Use a medium cutaway stabiliser to keep the dense satin fills flat and avoid a wavy petal outline after washing.

Float a layer of topping on any fabric with a visible weave so the petal vein lines dont sink between threads and look gappy. Hoop firmly and run the flower fills before the ladybug layers so the underlay stitches support the top fills properly. Press lightly from the reverse side once done to settle the stitches without flattening the satin sheen.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
