Big golden sunflower head dominates the centre, petals fanning out around a dark brown disk. Three red ladybugs are crawling across the bloom in different spots. One sits up on the petals, one rests dead centre on the disk, third is near the base by the leaves. Sage green leaves frame the whole thing on either side, its like a slice of july garden lifted onto cloth.
The ladybugs carry alot of detail for their size. Bright red shells, evenly spaced black spots, tiny black heads with little antennae poking forward. Each bug stitches at maybe 8mm wide on the small hoop and 20mm on the big hoop, the spots stay readable even at the smaller size. Sunflower petals each get a directional stitch fill so they catch light differently as the head fans out.
Twelve colours runs across this one. Three yellows for the petals fade, brown and a deeper umber on the seed disk, two reds for the ladybug shells, black for spots and outlines, two sage greens for the leaves, plus white for highlights. Stitch counts go from 21k on the smallest 3.5 inch up to a hefty 52k on the 7.5 inch hoop, its a dense one. My customer last summer ordered the biggest size for a kitchen tea towel, she sent photos and the bugs really popped.
Stitch on cream, white, oatmeal or natural linen for the cleanest read. Best on cotton garden aprons or a canvas farmers market tote. Pop the medium 5 inch on tea towels and the small 3.5 inch on napkin corners. Skip dark fabrics aswell, the yellow petals dim out fast on charcoal, black or navy.
Density runs heavy at 966 spi so use a proper cutaway stabiliser, a single layer wont hold this one. Hoop firm, drop the speed for the petal centre stitches and the leaf tips, swap to a sharper needle if youre stitching on linen. Drop a stitchout photo if the colour gradient comes out flat.
