The gnome sits low and squat in the centre with that enormous pointed purple hat taking up the top half of the composition. The hat is the loudest thing here, solid bright purple with a ribbed texture running down the cone in parallel stitch lines. Long silver-white beard flows down over his body, almost reaching his feet. He holds a tan wicker basket in both hands and from it you can see dark purple lavender sprigs poking upward in three small clumps. His face is hidden under the hat brim, just a round golden-orange nose showing.

Two butterflies flank him, one on each side. Left one has lavender-pink wings with black outlines. Right butterfly is smaller with yellow-green and black markings. Both use open fills rather than solid blocks so theres texture to the wings without going heavy on thread. Nine colours total: purples, white, golden orange for the nose, tan for the basket, black outlines, and the two butterfly colours. 9 sizes from 3.27 to 6.99 inches wide, 3.51 to 7.51 inches tall. Stitch count runs from 15,628 to 37,559.

Gnome designs do well with the spring market crowd but this one also moves well in autumn because the earthy basket and white beard read cosy alot of the year. A customer wrote me in march asking if she could swap the wing colours for a commissioned garden apron set and I told her any colour thread works on this layout because those sections are open fills. She sent photos in april, looked brilliant on a cream linen apron. Ive had orders for it steadily since then.

Pick cream, white, or light sage fabric. The purple hat is the anchor and it needs a light background to stay vivid. Avoid anything with a pattern. Pair no-show mesh on woven linen and cotton. The hat cone has proper satin fill so hoop tightly or it creeps. The butterfly sections are lighter density than the hat so theyll stitch faster, dont rush the hat thinking the whole job runs at that speed. Keep tension consistent through all 9 colour changes and youll be fine.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
