Stitched this out around february last year when a customer wanted something rainbow-shaped but in valentine colours instead of the usual spectrum. No blues, no yellows, just the pink-red-pink palette thats all over valentines day stuff this time of year. A clean arch shape with four stacked satin arc bands running from outside in: hot pink on the outer edge, dark red next, then red, then hot pink again at the inner band. Its simple, no outlines, no extra detail, just 3-colour blocking. Four sizes from a tiny 1.24 inches wide up to 4.5 inches wide, stitching from 1,731 to 12,810 stitches.

The density is 517 and the arcs use a radial directional fill, meaning satin columns run perpendicular to the arc curve rather than at a fixed angle. Thats what makes the colour bands look raised and dimensional when held at an angle rather than flat. On smooth cotton poplin or fleece the effect is really clean. Youll want cutaway stabiliser at the 4.51 in run because the wide arc span creates tension, but tearaway is fine for the two smaller sizes on stable woven fabric. The tiny 1.24-inch version has satin bands only 2-3mm wide, so use a 65/9 or 75/11 sharp needle and run slow or the bands blur at the edges. Dont skip the sharp needle, ballpoint wont give you clean satin edges at that width.

Ive had people use the 1.24-inch size in rows across a whole valentines day quilt block, 9 little arches in a 3x3 grid on a white cotton square. Looked suprised me honestly, way better than I expected. The bold colour blocking reads well at any distance. Pop it on a kids valentines tee, a pink canvas tote, a cushion cover, or a ribbon-trimmed pouch. Swap the threads to coral, blush and ivory if youre going for a softer look for a bridal gift or baby shower. Dm me if you want a mirrored version with the arch flipped into a U-shape.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids valentines day tee shirts and long-sleeve topsRun the 4.51 in version across a kids chest tee in white cotton using cutaway stabiliser on knit.
  • Small valentine pouches and gift bagsThe 2.87-inch version fits on a 4-inch square fabric gift pouch or coin purse.
  • Quilting blocks for a valentines day wall hangingUse 9 copies of the 1.24-inch size in a 3x3 grid on a 6-inch white cotton quilting square.
  • Canvas tote bags in hot pink or red fabricCentre the 4.51 in run on a 15-inch hot pink canvas tote bag front panel.
  • Personalised cushion covers for a bedroomThe 3.69-inch size works on a 14-inch plain cushion cover in white or blush cotton.
  • Baby onesies and toddler pyjamasThe 1.24-inch version fits on a standard onesie snap-placket panel without overlapping seams.
  • Hair accessories and fabric headbandsRun the 1.24-inch size on a strip of cotton twill tape and sew into a fabric headband.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
