Played with the lettering here to get the contrast right. The word "little" sits on top in large flowing black brushscript, the sort with long looping descenders. Below that comes "miss" in the same cursive style but in red and noticeably smaller, which makes it feel tucked between the two big words. Then "Valentine" sweeps across the bottom in the same big black script. Reads as a nested headline, black-red-black, with the red word doing the accent work.
On either side of "miss" are two hearts, also red. The left ones a solid filled satin heart. The right ones a double-outline heart, two slightly offset outlines giving it a sketchy bubbly look, small tick mark above suggesting shine. Two colours only, quick to set up. Smallest size is 2.21 by 3.51 inches, biggest is 4.73 by 7.51 inches, stitch count running 6,164 up to 13,644. Density at 384 stitches per square inch means the letterforms are clean but not overstuffed. Stitches out fast, light to medium cutaway, no topping needed on stable wovens.
Use dark red, white, blush or black fabric and youre fine. Skip busy prints where the script will fight for attention. Pop a water-soluble topping on if youre going onto fleece, the letters are thick enough to hold but the long descenders on "little" can sink into the pile without it. Dont skip the topping on sweatshirt fleece, learned that one the hard way.
I get messages every February from people doing matching mum and daughter shirts with this one, the 4-inch for mum and the 2.5-inch for the kid. Sweatshirts, tote bags, pyjama tops. The bold script reads from a distance and thats why it keeps coming back for Valentine gift runs year after year.
