The design runs as a horizontal band, like a strip of EKG tape. The heartbeat line moves across the full width with those classic monitor peaks and valleys, and the word 'love' in flowing script sits right in the middle where a patient name would normally appear on a real readout. Red and pink hearts of different sizes dot along the line at various points, and small 4-point spark shapes fill the spaces between. Wide and banner-like rather than square.
3 colours, black for the main line and the script outline, pink for the smaller hearts, red for the bigger ones. 2 colour changes, nice and quick setup. Stitch count is lower than most of my designs because its mostly outline work rather than dense fill. Smallest is 3.51 inches wide at 4,361 stitches, largest goes to 7.51 inches wide at 8,952 stitches. It stitches up fast, especially at the smaller sizes.
Nurses and doctors and midwives order this one alot, and I get it. But its not only for medical people, plenty of people just love the heartbeat visual for valentines day. One customer last February stitched the 5 inch version on a white linen cushion for her husband and said he thought it was the most thoughtful gift hed ever received. She told me he actually framed it. Good enough for me.
Works really well on white or black fabric where the 3 colours read cleanly. The wide horizontal format suits shirt pockets, sleeve bands, the bottom hem of a shirt, or the strap of a tote bag. Skip applying it where it will be cut or seamed mid-design. Use a tearaway stabiliser on cotton, it's a low to medium density design and tearaway handles it fine.
5 sizes from 3.51 to 7.51 inches wide, heights range from 1.38 to 2.95 inches, so its a slim wide design in all sizes.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Nurse or doctor valentines day shirtCentred across the chest of a white scrub top or plain tee it reads instantly to medical people and looks cool to everyone else.
- Medical professional gift itemsStitched on a canvas zip pouch or makeup bag its a thoughtful personalised gift for a nurse, midwife or doctor at valentines.
- Valentines day sleeve band detailThe slim horizontal format sits perfectly along a shirt sleeve band or cuff area without overwhelming the garment.
- Shirt pocket or hem accentSmall version on a shirt pocket works like a logo placement, subtle but exactly right for a medical valentines look.
- Tote bag strap embroideryAlong a wide tote bag strap the banner format fills the strap length nicely and looks intentional rather than random.
- Couples valentines matching teesMatching shirts with the 4 inch version on the left chest of both are a low-key but obvious couples valentines piece.
- Linen cushion valentines giftOn a white linen cushion centred horizontally it becomes a keepsake gift rather than just a decoration.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
