Took me a while to get the antennae right on this one, the tiny spiral curls at the top of each head. Three ladybugs, each sat on its own swirling wire stem that curls and loops underneath them into organic tendril shapes, one of the loops on the centre stem is a small heart, which is where the love bit comes in without it being too on the nose. The bugs themselves face slightly inward on the left and right, the centre one faces front, so the whole group reads as a little cluster rather than just three things lined up.

Two colours total, red and black alternating in four stops across the run. Red satin fills the wing shells, black covers the heads, all the spot fills, the antennae spirals and the curling stems below. Density is 346 which keeps the red shells full and smooth without stiffening the fabric too much. Six sizes from 3 inches at 5,114 stitches up to 8 inches at 17,096 stitches. 35 trims in the file because of the individual spots and antennae, so dont run this on a machine with a slow trim cycle or it'll add alot of time.

One customer ordered the 4-inch version last valentines day for a set of kids tote bags she was making as classroom gifts. She wanted something that worked for valentines but that her son wouldnt find embarrassing to carry into school after february. This design did that, it reads more garden and cute than it does hearts and love, the swirl is subtle.

Pop a medium tearaway under stable woven cotton or quilting cotton for the 3 and 4-inch runs. At the 6-inch and up sizes, use a cutaway if your fabric has any give at all, the red fill sections can pull on knits. Use a topping on any loopy or textured surface like fleece or terry. Skip very dark fabrics unless you want the red to read as a more muted burgundy tone.
