The word runs in a loose flowing cursive, the kind of script where the letters connect but still have that casual hand-drawn feel rather than a stiff font look. Small hearts float above and below the lettering, some touching the ascenders of the letters, a few scattered off to the sides. Two thread changes: the script itself and the hearts. Smallest version at 1.78 inches wide is 3,480 stitches, which is very light and runs fast. The 3.81-inch version is 12,148 stitches. These sizes are much taller than wide, 3.51 to 7.51 inches tall, so the script orientation is vertical which suits pocket panels and narrow fabric strips nicely.

Pop a polymesh backer on most fabrics. Density at 425 is moderate so you dont need a super heavy backing, but dont go tearaway because satin columns in the script pull on light backings. On terry cloth towels or waffle-weave fabric, lay a water-soluble topping on top so the fine script edges stay sharp and dont sink into the loops. Use a 75/11 sharp needle and keep your speed around 600 SPM or lower for the script sections. Youll notice the hearts stitch quickly since theyre small fill shapes, but take your time on the lettering satin columns.

Ive had this design selling steadily since february but honestly its not just a valentines thing. One customer bought it in august for personalised tea towels she was making as housewarming gifts. She ran the 2.5-inch version along the hem of white cotton flour-sack towels and said it looked classy and not at all seasonal. Thats the thing about simple two-colour script designs, they read well year round depending on the thread colours you pick.

Choose red and black for a classic romantic colourway or go blush pink and gold for something more neutral. Run the small sizes on pocket panels, cuffs, or tea towel corners. Use the larger 3.8-inch version for a centred statement on a flour-sack towel or linen napkin front. Skip stretchy fabrics unless you hoop them with a cutaway, otherwise the lettering will distort on knit without firm stabilisation.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Personalised tea towels and flour-sack towelsThe 2.5-inch version runs cleanly along the hem edge of a white cotton tea towel for a personalised gift.
  • Valentine shirt pocket panel or chestStitch the 3-inch size near the chest or left pocket panel of a cotton shirt for a low-key romantic look.
  • Linen napkins and table runner cornersThe vertical orientation suits linen napkin corners or table runner end panels in a natural colourway.
  • Canvas zip pouches and cosmetic bagsRuns quickly on canvas zip pouches making it great for small batch gift sets.
  • Baby blanket corner or crib quilt panelThe smallest 1.8-inch version stitches into a corner of a baby blanket without bulk.
  • Gift wrap fabric squares for handmade packagingStitch onto fabric squares and use as reusable fabric gift wrap tied with ribbon.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
