So this ones kinda wild and its one of my favourites Ive done. Its a snake curled its whole body into a heart shape and its got that tight crosshatch scale pattern, so youre not looking at a snake outline, youre seeing actual snake skin texture in thread. Its convincing and its doing something most heart designs cant do. Right across the middle theres big swooping magenta cursive that says Love, and theres a soft pink flower on the left, theres a deeper red one on the right. Its an odd combo and exactly why its working. Ive seen a lot of heart designs this past year and this ones doing something they cant.

Four colours and theyre doing serious work. The snake bodys in two grey tones so theres actual dimension in the scales, its not a flat fill and youre not getting bored looking at it. The scripts in a single magenta and its readable from distance, youre not squinting at it. Each flowers in its own shade and theyre not identical, which Id normally say is inconsistent but here its clearly intentional and its right. Ive kept the scale transitions clean so theyre not bunching. Density is 258 per square inch so its not heavy, itll drape, wont stiffen.

Youve got five sizes from 2.94 by 3.51 up to 6.29 by 7.51 inches. Its a solid range and its covering you whether its a jacket chest or a back panel. Customers grabbing it have mostly been after the gothic valentine angle and theyre going for black denim, dark cushions, totes for people who cant stand the usual heart stuff. Its not exclusively dark though, Ive seen it on cream linen and its not wrong either.

Avoid anything stretchy because youre gonna struggle holding the scale crosshatch flat and cutaway wont save you if the bases bendy. Pick a firm woven base. Use medium cutaway and hoop tightly. Float a topping on textured surfaces. Black, burgundy, ivory, dark teal, theyre all gonna let it sing. I get messages from customers about this one pretty regularly. A customer wrote me last march asking if it works on velvet and the answer is yes, just slow your machine down and float a topping.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Gothic valentine jacket back or chest patchPlace the large size on the back of a black denim jacket for a bold gothic valentine statement that customers say turns heads at markets
  • Dark-themed cushion cover for a reading nookCentre it on a deep burgundy cushion cover and pair with dark velvet throw for a moody reading corner aesthetic
  • Tote bag for someone who hates cutesy heart designsPut the mid size on a canvas tote for the customer who specifically asked for something with heart vibes but not the usual cheesy kind
  • Halloween-adjacent valentine gift for an edgy partnerStitch it onto a dark red or black card-holder pouch as a gift that works for both Halloween and Valentines Day crowds
  • Denim shirt pocket or sleeve accentAdd the smaller size to a denim shirt chest pocket so the snake heart peeks out without taking over the whole garment
  • Phone case or small pouch personalisationEmbroider on a small zip pouch or phone sleeve for a quick personalised gift that ships fast with the instant download
  • Band merch or alternative-style hoodie chestUse the largest size on a hoodie chest for alternative-style merch, the magenta pops well against black or charcoal fleece

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
