Flying eagle caught mid-beat, wings thrown wide and high, talons curled and reaching, that white bald-eagle head turned sideways giving you the full cold stare. The body is all warm burnt orange satin feathers running into dark brown and near-black across the upper wing coverts, then the primary feathers at the tips pull back out to rich rust. Bottom right underwing goes silvery grey. Seven colours total in this wildlife bird, so theres alot of thread-change planning if you run this in a single session. White crown just pops clean against all that deep warm rust, the contrast is the whole point.

Digitised at 780 stitches per square inch, dense enough that the feather layering reads sharp even at larger sizes where it climbs past 37,000 stitches. Thats dense tatami fills on the body with directional satin topcoats over each feather zone, underlay angle shifts per row so the wildlife detail holds. Use cutaway stabiliser, not tearaway. The wing pull on canvas or denim will drag a tearaway off-grain and your registration drifts. Hoop tight. Dont use a light tearaway on denim, it wont hold at that stitch count. One colour. Done.

Last month a guy running a small patch business ordered the 5 inch on cotton twill for a motorcycle club, members had been asking for an eagle patch for years and he said it landed exactly right. Pop the 6 inch centred on dark navy canvas and the white head reads from across the room. Try the 3.5 inch on a twill patch blank with cutaway underneath if you want a finished badge you can sew on later. Skip topping film on denim, the satin on those primary feathers dosent need it, but do pop a water-soluble topper on any looped terry or fleece so the beak and talon detail stitches dont sink into the pile.

Message me a photo and I can lighten the underlay for knits.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Canvas tote bagTote bags take the 6 inch nicely, wings nearly span the full front panel and reads bold from a distance.
  • Trucker cap front panelCap fronts work best with the 3.5 inch centred just above the buckram so the beak clears the brim.
  • Denim jacket back yokeBack yoke on a denim jacket at 7.5 inches is where the rust and near-black feather contrast really lands.
  • Fleece hoodie left chestDark navy fleece hoodie left chest suits the 4 inch well, that pale white head shows up even in low light.
  • Cotton twill patch blankHoop a cotton twill patch blank with cutaway underneath and the 4 inch sits clean with room for a border.
  • Linen wall hoopStretched on a 10 inch natural cream linen hoop, the warm rust tones against cream look almost painterly.
  • Hunting or outdoor vestOutdoor vest back panels suit the 5 inch, plenty of room and the directional feather work carries on twill.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
