A mum from Texas wrote me last week saying she hooped this onto a cream cotton sweatshirt the night before her baby shower and it came out perfect on the first try. Thats the kind of project this design is built for. The whole thing is outline satin stitch, no fill at all, so the big varsity MAMA letters sit open and airy, just the rose pink outline running clean around each block serif. Below the letters theres a wide ribbon bow with those long pointed trailing tails and a lil outlined heart sitting right at the knot in the centre. Then Est. 2026 sweeps underneath in flowing cursive, same rose pink thread, no colour changes mid-run. Simple composition. But the outline construction means density stays low so it lays flat on jersey, fleece, and even terry without puckering.

Pair it with a cutaway stabiliser on knits because the satin outline needs something firm underneath to stop the letters pulling in at the serifs. Use medium-weight cutaway, not tearaway, so the finished piece stays crisp through washes. Place a layer of water-soluble topping on towelling or any looped fabric so the directional pile doesnt swallow the outline thread. The 5-inch size centres nicely on a canvas tote front, big enough to read across a table, and the underlay keeps the bow tails from bunching even on heavier twill. Stitch the bow and the script block as separate colour stops if your machine allows it so the bobbin tension doesnt drift across the jump stitches between sections. Avoid tight hooping on fleece or youll get hoop burn around the edges once you pull away the stabiliser.

Send me a note if your thread keeps breaking on the dense bits.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • New mum sweatshirt giftSits right on a crew-neck sweatshirt chest, the 5-inch size fits without crowding the neckline.
  • Hospital bag personalisationA cotton canvas zipper pouch at 3.51 inches makes a gift cute enough to keep on a hospital bedside table.
  • Canvas tote for baby essentialsStitch the full 7.51-inch version centred on a canvas tote and it reads loud and clear across a room.
  • Denim jacket back panelDenim back panels love this outline style, no heavy fill to crack or fade after washing.
  • Nursery wall hoop artFrame the 4-inch size in a 6-inch hoop with cream linen for a nursery focal point that takes minutes to set up.
  • Terry cloth hand towelHoop terry cloth with water-soluble topping first so the rose pink outline doesnt disappear into the pile.
  • Cream linen toteLinen totes handle outline stitching well, medium cutaway underneath keeps the cursive from shifting.
  • Baby shower gift setStitch matching tote and pouch at different sizes for a coordinated set that looks alot more thoughtful than it was.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
