The word mama is written in a loose cursive, a lil wobbly in the best possible way, and growing up from the letters is a bunch of wildflowers: daisies, some smaller round buds, a few tall stems with leaves. All of it is outline only, no fill at all, so the stitching sits light on the fabric and you can still see the weave underneath. Thats what gives it that sketchy hand-drawn feel rather than a flat printed graphic.

One colour, one thread stop, 91 trims on the smallest size. Simple to run and fast to finish. The line-stitch outline means its low on tension too, so stretch jersey or lightweight cotton both work fine without fighting the stabiliser. I get messages from customers asking which mama design works best on a handkerchief or muslin swaddle and this is always the one I point em to because the low stitch density doesnt pucker thin fabric.

Back in october a buyer ordered 3 sizes at once: the 1.92-inch for a pocket square, the 3.5-inch for a tote, and the 4-inch for a tea towel. She sent photos of all three and said the tote version was the one her mum actually cried about. Gonna be honest, that message made my week.

Pair it with black thread on cream linen for that minimal gift aesthetic, or try sage green thread on white cotton for a spring mothers day feel. Avoid very coarse canvas for the smaller sizes because the running outline underlay gets lost in the texture. Use mesh or light tearaway stabiliser here, dont overthink it. Ping me if anything looks off and Ill get it sorted.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • mothers day gift tote or canvas bagStitch the 3.5-inch version on a natural linen tote and give it as a mothers day gift that doesnt scream gift shop
  • muslin swaddle or baby blanket cornerEmbroider the smallest size on a muslin swaddle corner for a newborn gift that actually looks elegant
  • linen tea towel for a mum who likes minimal thingsPair the medium version on a cream linen tea towel with sage thread and it fits right in with a modern kitchen
  • pocket square or handkerchief personalisationRun the 1.92-inch size on a cotton pocket square for a subtle personalised gift that works for any mum
  • cotton apron bib or chest panelHoop the 4-inch version centred on an apron bib on natural canvas for a handmade kitchen gift
  • tshirt left chest or sleeve detailPop the 2.5-inch size on the left chest of a white tshirt and the outline sits light enough that it reads from across the room
  • framed hoop art for a nursery or kitchenUse the 3-inch version in a 5-inch wooden hoop on cream muslin and hang it as nursery wall art

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
