So the sizing on this one is deliberately small -- the four sizes go from 1.68 wide and 2.01 tall on small, reaching 4.19 by 5.01 inches. Thats intentional for where this design lives: baby onesies, bibs, small hat panels, pocket patches on mum bags. The word Mama sits in a rounded script and theres a little rainbow arc woven into or sitting above the text. Three colours, density of 576 so the fills are solid and well-defined even at the tiniest 1.68 inch version.
Stitch count runs from 4,289 at the smallest to 12,089 at 4.19 inches. Back it with lightweight cutaway on baby knit and jersey -- the fabric stretches a bit and you dont want the underlay to feel stiff against delicate skin. Keep your bobbin tension balanced on small designs like this; an uneven bobbin shows as dots through the satin fill on the rainbow arc. Pair the 1.68 inch version with a soft tearaway on woven bibs and it stitches out beautifully clean. A customer making mother's day gifts last spring asked me specifically about which size works best on 100% cotton Gerber onesies and I always point them to the 1.68 inch version first.
Its a quick project even at the largest size. Pop it on a bib, a onesie chest, a small tote pocket. Feels personal somehow even though its not customised -- the word just hits differently when its stitched.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Stitch onto a baby onesie chest at the 1.68 inch size for a newborn giftThe 1.68 inch version fits a standard onesie chest without covering the snap fasteners.
- Embroider onto a baby bib front panel as part of a baby shower setBib terry cloth needs a wash-away topping film to stop the rainbow arc sinking into the loops.
- Use the 4.19 inch version on a canvas mum tote or nappy bag pocketAt 4.19 inches on a canvas tote pocket the word Mama reads clearly from conversational distance.
- Add to a knitted baby hat using the small 2 inch size with a soft cutawayBaby hat rib needs the softest possible cutaway stabiliser; avoid tearaway on stretch knit.
- Hoop onto a swaddle muslin corner as a personalised keepsake touchPress water-soluble film onto the muslin surface before hooping for clean outline results.
- Stitch onto a fabric gift tag or bookmark as a mum's day small giftFor a small gift tag back the 1.68 inch size with a firm interfacing and finish the edges.
- Use on a denim shirt chest pocket for a casual mum everyday lookDenim shirt chest pocket works best with the 3 inch size and a light sew-in stabiliser.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
