She's lounging on her front with her chin resting on both hands, looking straight at you with those huge dark eyes and long lashes. Big natural afro hair fills the top of the design, black with a small teal starfish clip tucked in on one side. The tail is purple with a satin scale texture running down it, and the fin at the bottom splits into two rounded lobes in teal. Pink shell earrings, warm brown skin, soft pink lips. Its kinda the mermaid design I wanted to exist years ago and couldnt find anywhere.
9 colours, relatively lean compared to some of my more complex designs. Stitch range is 10k on the smallest 2.75 by 3.5-inch up to 33k on the big 5.9 by 7.5-inch. Nine sizes total. Thats a friendly density, you wont fight the stabiliser on this one. The afro hair section uses tight satin fill with underlay to keep it from sinking into the fabric so use a topping on terry or fleece to help the stitches sit up clean.
Text me if you have any issues with the file. I get messages from girls mums who've been searching for a mermaid that looks like their daughter, and this one fills that gap. One customer in october last year ordered it three times for different fabric projects. She used it on a tote, a pillowcase, and then a little canvas backpack for her daughter.
Works great on white cotton tees and onesies, cream or blush pink canvas totes, pale lavender fleece and natural muslin. Avoid busy prints. The teal and purple tail colours really pop against white and cream. Skip anything mid-tone grey because the dark hair disappears. For the smallest sizes use a tearaway on stable cotton, cutaway on any stretch. Text me if the satin needs adjustment and Ill check the punch.
