This is the mermaid and shark design and its kinda the sweetest thing. The mermaid is hugging the shark from behind, arms wrapped around its middle, the shark has this big goofy grin with one tooth poking out, and the mermaids teal tail curls up behind the whole scene. Seven colours, all soft and cartoon-friendly, nothing harsh or neon about it.

I made this originally for a beach party project last summer, one customer needed it for a kids swim bag and it turned out realy well on the pale blue nylon. Since then Ive had it going on towels, tees, onesies, all sorts. The shark body uses satin column stitching for the outlines so the curves stay smooth rather than jagged when you scale up.

Nine sizes from 2.65 inches wide up to 5.68 inches, stitch count from around 10k to just under 26k. Use tearaway stabiliser on woven fabrics. For stretchy fabrics like cotton jersey or knit onesie fabric go with cutaway so the design doesnt pull at the edges. Skip topping on smooth fabrics, add wash-away topping on fluffy fleece.

Works best on pale colours. Light blue, aqua, white, lavender all read beautifully. On a white onesie the whole piece really pops. Try the 4 inch version for baby gift items, stitch the 5 inch version centered on a kids tee chest for a bold summer shirt.

Send me a message if you have colour swap requests or want help adjusting thread colours for a different background and Ill see what I can do.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
