Theres no actual mermaid face here, just the suggestion of one built up from shells. A large pink clamshell sits centre-top, its ridged fan shape done in hot pink satin with a small bean-stitch detail running along the ridge lines. Two starfish spread out either side, also pink, each one outlined and filled in a directional satin that catches light differently across each arm. Below those sit two spiral shells in pale lavender with mint green bands, and those cooler tones are what stop the pink from going too intense.

At the very bottom, two curved black shapes arc inward like lashes from closed eyes looking up. I think thats the genuinely clever bit, that detail shifts the whole stack of shells from a decorative still-life into something with its own face and personality. Small round bubble shapes scatter in pale lavender, loose and airy, and a couple of curling tendrils add movement at the top corners without cluttering anything.

Six colours, density 444, so its lighter than youd expect for how much is in the frame. Biggest size is 7.36 by 7.5 inches at just under 24.5k stitches, smallest is 3.44 by 3.5. The clamshell ridge lines use bean stitch which gives a raised, almost beaded look once its stitched out. Slow down for those sections, rushing bean stitch shows in the finished piece. Use a medium-weight cutaway under quilting cotton or a tearaway under fleece, keep the hoop tension even so the satin starfish arms dont pucker on the outer tips. A customer last summer had the starfish arm tips puckering and it was a hoop tension issue, not the file, tighten up before the satin sections start.

White, soft cream or pale aqua fabric suits this best. Pale blue or seafoam gives it an underwater-backdrop feel straight away. Avoid heavy dark fabrics, the lavender bubble detail disappears completely. Text me if the pink on the starfish arms goes patchy and Ill swap the colour for a richer red.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
