Heres the cute mermaid sisters and its alot of fun, one of my most popular kids designs this year. Two cartoon mermaid sisters under the sea with their pink hair flowing out behind them. The little one floats lower with a yellow starfish tucked in her hair, the bigger one wears a tiny gold crown and pink shell top. Around them theyve got bubbles drifting up, a tiny orange crab waving from the side, a small purple jellyfish, and a curl of green seaweed.
Colour palette is bright and girly without being overpowering. Bubblegum pink for the hair, aqua green for the tails with a few highlight streaks, soft yellow for the starfish and seaweed accents. Thirteen thread changes for the full scene which sounds like alot, but it stitches up smooth and you can definately skip a couple of the smaller accent colours if you wanna simplify.
Recieved a lovely message last month from a customer who put this on a beach bag for her 6 year old, said the kid wouldnt let go of it for a week. I been getting messages from grandmas aswell, making birthday gifts for granddaughters who are deep in the mermaid phase, and the design just hits. Its sweet, its magical, theres enough going on to feel like a proper story not a single character.
Stitch on light cotton, terry, fleece or lightweight denim for best results. White, pastel pink and soft mint show off the bubblegum hair and aqua tails the cleanest. Skip dark navy here, the pinks get muddy and you lose the dreamy underwater feel. Use a tearaway stabiliser on cotton, a medium cutaway on knits.
Bigger sizes go on tote bags and pillows, smaller sizes work for tees and bibs. Pop the 6 inch version on a quilted reading pillow, looks suprised how nicely it fills the corner. Atleast nine sizes in the file so the design fits any hoop you got, with stitch counts running 12k to 28k.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Birthday tee shirts for mermaid loving kidsStitch the medium size on a white or pastel pink tee, the bubblegum hair really pops on light cotton.
- Beach bags and pool totes for summer holidaysBig size fills the front panel of a beach tote nice, leaves room for a name above or below.
- Reading pillows and bedroom decor in a girls roomCentred on a 16 inch reading pillow this becomes the whole vibe of a girls bedroom.
- Birthday party banners and goodie bag decorationWorks small as a goodie bag accent, just keep it above 4 inches so the jellyfish detail still reads.
- Quilt blocks for an under the sea themed quiltDrop into a 6 inch quilt block alongside other ocean creatures for a proper underwater bed quilt.
- Embroidered towels and swim cover-upsStitches clean on a hooded swim towel, polyester thread holds colour through pool washes.
- Kids backpacks and lunch bags for the school yearSmaller size on the front pocket of a backpack survives the daily lunch box bashing pretty well.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
