The mermaid tail here curves up in that classic S shape with the fins fanned out wide at the top, and then theres a princess crown floating just above it like it belongs to whoever the mermaid is. Its a clever little combo and the two elements read as one piece even though they are technically separate.

Seven colours total in this one, which means alot of thread changes but the payoff is worth it. The tail scales are done with small satin fill sections laid in a grid pattern, so each scale has its own slight directional stitch and you actually see the individual shapes clearly. Aqua and teal for the main tail body, coral pink on the fin edges, gold thread for the crown, white highlights on the fin tips. Stitch count tops out at 24,636 on the largest 7.5 inch size, minimum is 11,275 at 3.5 inches.

And the density is 505 which keeps it from puckering on light jersey. I run it on a mid-weight cutaway stabiliser and it holds clean. One customer ordered this last month specifically for her daughters birthday jacket and sent photos after, the tail sat perfectly on the back panel without any pulling at the corners.

Comes in 5 sizes. Largest is 7.5 inches wide by 6.51 inches tall, smallest is 3.5 by 3.04 inches. Use a tearaway on woven fabrics like denim or canvas, cutaway for any knit or fleece.

Stitch it on girls clothing, fantasy-themed gifts, bedroom cushions, dance bags. Skip anything sheer because the underlay will show through. Holler if you hit a snag on the download and ill get it sorted.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Girls birthday party shirtsA medium size centred on a soft pink tee makes a birthday shirt that feels genuinely special rather than just printed.
  • Mermaid themed bedroom cushionsStitched on a white linen cushion cover it becomes a decoration piece for a mermaid themed bedroom.
  • Dance bag front panelFront panel of a small dance bag in teal canvas lets the design pop without competing with the bag colour.
  • Girls halloween costume additionOn a simple black hoodie it turns a plain garment into a halloween mermaid costume extra without extra sewing.
  • Kids backpack patchPatch-hooped on a kids backpack in the 3.5 inch size works as a small personalised detail that holds up through heavy use.
  • Fantasy gift tote bagsOn a canvas tote in the medium size it becomes a fantasy-themed gift bag people can actually reuse.
  • Little girls hoodies back panelPlaced centre-back on a girls hoodie the 7.5 inch version fills the space well and reads clearly from across a room.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
