Heres the mermaid tail underwater design and its proper moody. A single mermaid tail rises straight up the centre of the frame, fluke split at the top into two curling fin shapes that flare out like flame. The body twists with classic fish-scale detail running its length, each scale a fine satin curve. On either side wispy seaweed strands curl up from the bottom, framing the tail like its drifting through dim ocean water. All in ink black thread.
The whole design uses just one black thread plus the fabric ground showing through the negative space, so its essentially monochrome. Its a real ink-pen sketchbook feel. Even the scale fills are open work, satin curves overlapping but not solid filled, which lets the cloth peek through and gives the tail dimension. The seaweed strands are loose outline drawings, no fill, just inky linework swaying.
I drew this last winter for a customer customising sweatshirts for her daughters mermaid-themed birthday party for halloween. She wanted something dark and dreamy not the cute disney mermaid look. After a beach club summer launch a swim shop bought the design for their kids beach cover ups. Stitch on cream cotton, soft white linen, oatmeal canvas, butter yellow muslin. The black thread reads boldest against light backgrounds. Pop the 5 inch on the front of a cream tee for a beach holiday capsule, run the 7.5 inch on a denim jacket back panel for a moody costume look. Stitch the small 3.5 inch on a tarot card pouch. Density runs gentle at 487 spi so a tearaway stabiliser handles it on most stable woven fabric. Use mesh cutaway under jersey, the long satin curves on the seaweed need stable ground or theyll pucker on stretch. Hoop firm. Skip patterned fabric coz the inky linework will fight against any background print on the cloth.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
