My husband stitched this one first and put it straight on a red tea towel, which made it completely invisible. On white or cream its a different story. The whole merry christmas composition sits inside a circle, 'Merry' up top in big loose script and 'Christmas' sweeping across the bottom in wider brush lettering. Every gap between the words is packed with small holiday motifs in the same red, candy canes, ornament spheres, snowflakes, pine sprigs, little stars. Nothing left empty.

Run a layer of lightweight tearaway under white or cream cotton before you hoop. The outline motifs and the script fill both need a stable surface or theyll shift on the fabric. Load your red thread, no colour changes at all, no swaps mid-stitch. Stitch count runs from 14,721 at the 3.50 x 3.47 inch size up to 29,854 at 7.50 x 7.44 inches. Five sizes, roughly square at every size, so its flexible for different hoop shapes without rescaling.

The single-colour setup is the best thing about it if youre batch-making christmas gifts. No thread swaps, no stopping, just continuous stitching. Swap the shade too if you like, deep burgundy reads the same as fire-engine red and both work depending on your fabric colour. Try it on a test piece first before you commit to a full run on expensive linen, its worth the extra five minutes to check tension.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas tea towels and kitchen linensThe 7.5-inch size sits centred on a flour-sack kitchen towel in cream or white and reads perfectly from across the kitchen
  • Holiday tote bags for seasonal giftingStitch on a natural canvas tote with wide handles for a reusable holiday gift bag that gets kept after Christmas
  • Seasonal throw pillow covers in cream or whiteAt the 5-inch size on a cream pillow cover, the all-red composition photographs really well for social media
  • Christmas tablecloth or table runner panelsUse the large size along the length of a linen runner with two or three repeats spaced evenly for a table setting
  • Holiday sweatshirt chest panel stitchingA medium 4-inch size works well on the chest of a white or light grey crewneck for a simple christmas outfit
  • Christmas card fabric toppers or framed hoopsStitch into a hoop and frame with a simple wooden surround for a handmade Christmas wall piece
  • Festive aprons for holiday bakingThe 3.5-inch size fits on an apron bib without distorting the fabric, good for gifting to someone who loves to bake

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
