Its the phrase Merry Christmas written out in a flowing calligraphy script, the kind with long looping tails that sweep under and past the letters. Merry sits on top in smaller lettering and Christmas fills the bottom in big bold satin-filled strokes, the whole word angled upward to give it energy. The lettering has proper thick and thin contrast, the downstrokes are wide satin columns and the upstrokes are thinner which is what makes it read like real calligraphy rather than a thick block font. Sitting up in the top right corner is a small brown reindeer in mid-leap, legs tucked and stretched in the running position. Scattered around the text are brown snowflake outlines and tiny dot accents.

My mum stitched the biggest size onto a red and gold christmas table runner last year and honestly it looked like something from a boutique christmas shop. Just 3 colours total, red for the lettering, warm brown for the leaping reindeer and scatter marks, and white for a couple of highlight details. Four sizes from 4 inches wide by 4.5 inches tall up to 6.75 by 7.5. Stitch counts go from just over 21k to around 36k. Not a heavy piece for the visual impact it gives, the script stitches fast because theres no solid fill areas, its mostly the satin columns following the letter shapes.

Run a layer of tearaway stabiliser under your fabric, the lettering doesnt have the kind of dense fill that demands cutaway. On jersey or stretch fabrics swap to a light cutaway and add a soluble topping so the thin parts of the script dont sink into the knit texture. Check your tension before you start, loose bobbin tension on those narrow flourish tails shows up straight away. Use a 75/11 needle on lighter fabrics so the thin upstroke stitches land clean.

White, cream, ivory or gold fabric is where this one really performs. Black or navy also look great, the red pops hard against dark backgrounds. Skip dark brown fabric because the brown accent marks just merge into it. Any issues message me through the shop.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas table runners and centre pieces for holiday dining tablesThe largest 6.75 inch version centred on a cream linen table runner is one of the best uses for this design.
  • Holiday sweatshirts and jumpers with a classic festive text designStitch the 5 inch size on a white or cream sweatshirt chest for a clean classic christmas top.
  • Christmas stockings and mantelpiece fabric decorationsUse the 4 inch size on a Christmas stocking cuff in red velvet or cream cotton for a traditional look.
  • Seasonal tote bags and gift bags for christmas marketsThe 5 inch size on a natural canvas tote makes a great reusable christmas gift bag for any occasion.
  • Holiday throw pillow covers in cream or white linenStitch two or three across a pillow cover front on ivory linen, space them slightly for a running-text effect.
  • Christmas cards and framed hoop art for seasonal giftingThe smaller 4 inch size fits in an embroidery hoop for a minimal framed christmas art piece.
  • Festive tea towels and napkins with a traditional christmas greetingUse on cream cotton napkins folded into a gift box, the script works at smaller sizes without losing legibility.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
