Two colours on cream or linen fabric, green and red, and the words sweep across in that connected handwritten style where each letter flows into the next. "Merry" sits on top, "Christmas" below and slightly wider. On the left, before the M, theres a slim zigzag tree shape, just angled lines going left-right-left up to a five-pointed star. No fill, just a clean outline. It works because the green lettering beside it carries all the visual weight.

Around the text there's a loose scatter of red shapes, some six-arm snowflakes, some four-arm star bursts, some just solid circles about 4mm across. They're not symmetrical, not in a grid, just placed where theyd land if someone tossed them at the composition. That randomness is what makes it read as something a person drew.

Only 3 sizes, smallest 2.91 by 4.5 inches, largest 4.85 by 7.51. The tall orientation makes it a good fit for stocking fronts and table runner ends where a square design sits too wide. Density at 561 per square inch, stitch count on the large just over 20,000, so about 45 minutes on a home machine. One of my customers selling personalised stockings told me she uses this one every December and pairs it with a name block below in a matching font.

Use a smooth medium-weight cotton or linen and a light cutaway backing. Stitch with a water-soluble topping on any fabric with a visible weave so the thin script lines dont sink into the texture. Reach out through the shop if the snowflake scatter doesnt sit flat after stitching and Ill sort the colour run order.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Christmas stocking frontsStitch the large size on a linen stocking front, the 4.85 by 7.5 inch format fills the panel without a border
  • Table runner end panelsPlace at each short end of a linen table runner and leave the centre plain, the tall format suits narrow end panels
  • Linen napkin corner monogrammingEmbroider the small size in the corner of a linen napkin set, two colours on white linen looks clean and not busy
  • Holiday pillow covers in portrait orientationStitch on a lumbar pillow cover in portrait layout, the tall ratio fills a 12 by 18 inch cushion well
  • Gift wrap fabric squaresStitch onto a cotton square, fold and sew into a wrapping cloth so the recipient gets a reusable gift wrap
  • Reusable canvas gift bagsPut on a natural cotton drawstring bag for gifts instead of a box, the tall format works well for bottles
  • Embroidery hoop art for wall displayHoop in a 7 or 8-inch embroidery hoop for wall display, the snowflake scatter fills the circular frame naturally
  • Iron-on patch for denim jacketsStitch on stabilised denim, cut around the design with a small border, and sew as a patch to a jacket sleeve

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
