Its a rabbit in upright three-quarter portrait, head turned slightly, one front paw just lifting. But its not a cute fluffy kids cartoon bunny. This one looks more like something from a Victorian nature print, all open radiating stitch lines built up without solid fills. Loose terracotta-orange running stitches build the body up, splaying outward from the centre spine like the fur actually has direction. Burnt gold picks up the inner ears and the muzzle, and a small white dot sits against a darker area for the eye.

The outline isnt a hard satin border, its a scratchy edge that bleeds slightly into the cloth underneath, which is exactly what gives it that naturalist-sketch vibe. Four colours total: terracotta, burnt gold, a deeper reddish brown for shadow under the chin and haunch, and that white eye highlight. Thats all it needs, honestly. Ten thousand stitches at the big end, six thousand at the small, so its a quick stitch-out even at full size.

Density sits at 309 stitches per square inch, which is wicked light for something this detailed-looking. That low density is deliberate, it means the weave shows through the stitches like tooth shows through pencil on textured paper. Pick cream cotton, raw linen or oatmeal canvas and youll get the full effect. Pale sage works a treat too.

Nine sizes run from 2.09 by 3.5 inches up to 4.47 by 7.5. The small size fits on a lapel, the large one fills a cushion nicely. Use medium cutaway behind on woven goods, light tearaway on firm cotton. Skip water-soluble topping, it flattens the open stitch texture and you lose the whole point of the design. One customer ordered this last autumn for a set of linen napkins she was gifting a friend who does watercolour botanical painting, and she said the scratchy texture looked right at home next to the handmade ceramics on the table.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Tote bag in raw canvasPut it on a raw natural canvas tote and it looks like a gallery gift shop find
  • Woodland nursery wall hoopMount in a 10-inch hoop with cream linen backing for a woodland nursery wall piece that works for any gender
  • Denim shirt sleeve or chestPlace the medium size on a denim shirt sleeve just below the shoulder seam for a quiet naturalist detail
  • Cotton tea towel cornerPop the small size on the corner of a cream cotton tea towel for a handmade kitchen gift that doesnt look kitschy
  • Easter table napkin setStitch one on each napkin in a set of four for an Easter table that feels grown-up and not novelty
  • Felt brooch or iron-on patchUse the smallest size on a thick felt circle, back with a pin finding, and sell as a handmade brooch
  • Sweatshirt pocket area placementPlace the medium on the left chest pocket area of a plain ecru sweatshirt for a subtle woodland statement

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
