This minimalist cat head design suprised me, honestly. Single colour, 9,792 stitches at the smallest, and its a kitten looking upward, head tilted back, that soft triangular face pointing up and to the right like something just caught its attention on the ceiling. The ears are perked, the long whiskers fan out to both sides, and its all done in fine sketch lines rather than a solid fill. Cross-hatching builds up the shadow on the cheek and under the chin, which is what gives it that pencil-drawing quality instead of reading like a flat sticker.

One colour only, shown white on black in the preview but youre not locked to that. Stitch it white on charcoal, cream on navy, light grey on slate, whatever suits your fabric. Nine sizes, 3.5 inches from the smallest up to a 7.5-inch maximum, 9,792 stitches at the low end and 22,886 at the top end. The 5-inch and 6-inch are my sweet spot picks, they sit well on tote bags and tees without overwhelming the garment.

I get messages from cat cafe owners alot about this one. One customer runs a cat cafe in her city and she emailed me last december saying she was putting it on her staff aprons and customer tote bags, she wanted something art-forward not novelty. She sent me a photo, honestly it looked like something from a print studio not a home embroidery machine. Dm me if you want to see the photo, happy to share.

Best on dark fabric. Charcoal cotton jersey, black canvas tote, navy linen. Use a good cutaway stabiliser on jersey because the sketch lines rely on consistent tension and stretch fabric'll wobble them. The smaller 3.5-inch lands well on a black cap brim or canvas zipper pouch front. Avoid pale backgrounds unless youre switching to a dark thread colour, the fine lines need strong contrast to read clearly.

Satin fill on the ear interior gets densest at the small sizes, so ease your speed back a bit there. Whiskers are individual long satin columns, make sure your bobbin is fresh before you start. Hoop firm and flat. Dm me if your machine doesnt like the file and ill sort it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cat cafe staff aprons and tote bagsCat cafe staff apron at 5-inch in white thread on black -- whisker lines fan wide and read clearly across a table.
  • Black canvas tote bags for cat ownersBlack canvas tote at 6-inch in white thread -- the whisker spread gives it that art-print quality rather than craft look.
  • Dark cotton tees for cat loversCharcoal cotton tee at 5-inch chest -- portrait detail rewards anyone who looks closely at the fur direction.
  • Charcoal cap brim embroideryDark cap front panel at 3.5-inch -- whiskers extend past the brim edge naturally without crowding the face.
  • Canvas zipper pouchesBlack canvas zipper pouch at 4-inch with cat name lettered below in matching thread, quick craft fair production.
  • Bookstore or coffee shop merchandiseArt-forward bookstore or coffee shop tote at 5-inch -- single-colour graphic suits any minimalist retail aesthetic.
  • Vet clinic gift bagsVet clinic gift bag in navy at 4-inch, pet name added underneath in a finer running-stitch font.
  • Personalised pet loss memorial itemsCream linen pet memorial pouch at medium build -- the cats name stitched underneath makes it a keepsake rather than merch.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
