Worked on this one specifically for people who wanted a nautical design that wasnt busy. Its the sailboat in profile, solid black, sitting on a few short ripple lines for water, and behind it a large open circle made from a thin satin ring. Three seagulls curve above the mast tip. Thats it. No hatching, no compass, no waves. Just the core shapes and negative space doing the work.
5 sizes. The smallest is 3.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches tall at 7211 stitches. Largest is 7.4 wide by 7.5 tall at 20371. Density is 365 which is quite low for this category, so its actually a comfortable run on thinner fabrics like quilting cotton or linen. A customer this month stitched it on a linen beach bag in a medium hoop and said it came out cleaner than she expected on the loose weave. The seagull shapes are small satin fills so watch your tension on those.
Use the big hoop on a tote or the medium on a tea towel. The circle frame makes it work well as a patch too, nice clean border with the design centered inside. Stitch it, trim close to the circle, apply iron-on backing, and youve got a neat round patch. Pop it onto a canvas hat brim, a bag handle tab, a kid's summer shorts waistband. Hoop firm and keep the satin ring tension even. Nothing complicated about the setup: density is forgiving and the minimal stitch paths mean fewer jump stitches to clip. Single colour. It just works.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Linen beach bag or canvas tote for a summer seaside giftThe 7-inch size fills a linen beach bag front cleanly on a medium-weight woven stabiliser.
- Tea towel centre or corner accent in a coastal kitchenThe 3.5-inch version tucks into a tea towel corner on cotton huck weave with minimal puckering.
- Round applique patch for a cap brim or bag strap tabStitch the circle design and trim to a round patch shape for iron-on cap or strap embellishment.
- Framed hoop art for a beach house or bathroom wallMount the 5-inch hoop in a natural wood ring for a simple ready-to-hang coastal bathroom piece.
- Kids summer shirt or shorts waistband panelThe 3.5-inch size sits well centred on a child's summer shirt chest without crowding the neckline.
- Pillowcase accent for a nautical-themed bedroomStitch in white on a navy pillowcase fabric for a classic nautical stripe bedroom accent.
- Zip pouch front for a beach day bag or swim kitThe 4-inch size fits a zip pouch front panel as a standalone motif without adding text.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
