The heart shape is just an outline, two thin parallel lines of black thread that form the frame. No fill. Inside the lower right, mom is written in a loose cursive script, also black. And over the left lobe, a floral stem arrangement climbs upward and spills slightly above the heart edge. One big peach bloom at the centre with open petal detail, smaller four-petal accent flowers on side stems, proper green leafy branches running between them, and three or four sky blue butterfly shapes scattered at different heights around the arrangement.

Four colours total. The black frame and script. Peach-orange satin on the blooms. A vivid green on the stems and leaves. And that unexpected sky blue on those butterflies. And the thing about this colour combination is it shouldnt really work on paper but it absolutely does. Those butterfly shapes are whats keeping the design fresh instead of predictable. Take any one of those four colours out and youd have something ordinary, together they work.

Works really well on white or cream fabric where all four colours come through clean. On ivory linen the peach flowers warm up nicely. On light grey the butterfly shapes become the loudest element in the composition, which is a good thing. Skip anything too dark because the open heart outline needs contrast to read properly. Folks message me about this every spring and last march a customer wrote me to say she stitched it on a cream linen tote for her mums birthday and it went down really well.

Four colour changes and about 15k stitches on the biggest size, so its not a long run. Back it with a tear-away on woven cotton, or a water-soluble topping if youre going onto a textured surface to keep the fine outline stitches from sinking. Stitch a colour sequence test first if youre doing multiple pieces, just to make sure your thread tension is consistent across all four colour stops. Dm me if the outline pulls or any thread skips and Ill turn it around fast.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Mothers Day cards and gift wrap on fabricStitch on a small cream fabric panel, mount it in a card frame and it becomes a handmade Mothers Day card that actually lasts
  • Cushion covers and throw pillows for the bedroomA scatter cushion on a bed or sofa with this on the front is a gift that stays visible and meaningful well past May
  • Tote bags and canvas pouches as a gift setStitch on a canvas tote and fill it with small treats, the tote itself is the gift and the packaging at the same time
  • Kids school bags or backpack patchesA lot of parents stitch the small size on a school bag flap or as a sewn patch on a kids backpack for a back-to-school personalisation
  • Kitchen aprons and dish towels for momWhite flour sack apron with this on the chest pocket area is a practical gift that looks properly designed rather than off-the-shelf
  • Linen or cotton tee shirts for family giftingThe 4- or 5-inch size on a light grey or white tee is understated enough to wear year-round, not just on Mothers Day
  • Framed wall hoop art for a feminine bedroomIn a 6-inch hoop on natural linen with raw edges it reads like a proper botanical art print, frame it and hang it in a bedroom

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
