Two colours. Thats it. And somehow this keeps getting ordered more than half my multicolour designs. Its a cat sitting inside a crescent moon, the whole thing drawn with loose brushstroke linework like someone painted it with a wide ink brush in one sweep. The moon isnt a crisp geometric shape either, its slightly irregular, the way a real brushstroke would be, which gives it that handmade feel even hooped on machine.

The cat itself is just a silhouette, sitting upright with the tail curled around the bottom of the moon. No face details, no fussy feather fills. Wilcom digitised the outline stitching with a directional satin approach on the cat body and a dense underlay running the curved moon arc, so that near-black thread reads as a clean shape even on lighter fabrics like cream linen or natural canvas.

I had a customer last autumn who embroidered this onto a set of 4 cream muslin tea towels as a housewarming gift. She picked the 5-inch size, backed each one with light tearaway stabiliser, and said the machine ran through the 14,364 stitches on that size without a single bobbin issue. Sent me a photo and honestly they looked better than I expected, the brushstroke quality came through really well on the woven texture.

Best on pale grounds where the near-black stitching pops. Pale grey cotton jersey, natural linen, off-white canvas, cream denim all work well. Avoid digitally printed fabric backgrounds because the silhouette can look flat without contrast. Skip stretchy jersey unless you cutaway stabilise properly. Stitch the 9 sizes from 3.5 inches all the way to 7.19 inches tall, and you can go pocket-sized on a tote or chest-panel on a lightweight sweatshirt.
