The whole figure is one continuous contour line. Mum leans in, child tucks against her shoulder, and the outline traces both bodies without lifting, wrapping arm over arm in that close-hold pose that anyone whos been a parent will recognise instantly. Two colours in the file, 4 sizes from 2.73 inches wide up to 4.55 inches wide, stitch count runs from 9,285 up to fifteen thousand four hundred thirty-one stitches at the largest. Wilcom EmbroideryStudio handled the digitising so the line weights stay consistent even on small hoops.

The continuous-outline technique means theres no fill density pulling at the fabric and no tatami sections to bog down a lightweight base cloth. Run it on white jersey, cream linen, soft grey fleece, any colour where the thread colour has some contrast. Im a big fan of ivory thread on blush cotton for the baby gift market because it reads warm and handmade without looking rough.

One customer ordered a bunch of 3-inch versions for personalised muslin swaddles this mothers day and sent me a photo. The single-line style read perfectly even through a light wash, which a fill design wouldnt have survived. Thats the honest advantage of outline-only work, it stays legible on soft fabrics where fill stitch density would cause puckering problems.

Use a light tearaway stabiliser under jersey or woven cotton, hoop snug but dont over-tension the weave. At 9k stitches the smallest size runs quick. Try the 4.5-inch sized centred on a cushion cover for a nursery room piece that doesnt look mass-produced. Mother and children themed gifts sell year round, not just for mothers day, so its a design worth keeping in rotation. Contour-line embroidery holds up well over time because theres no fill weight underneath that could pull the base cloth out of shape.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Personalised muslin swaddle wraps and baby blanketsStitch the 3-inch version on a pre-washed muslin swaddle and the continuous outline reads clean even after a few gentle washes
  • Mothers day gift patches on linen pouchesEmbroider on a small linen pouch, pair with a candle or bath set for a mothers day gift
  • Nursery cushion covers and cot bumper panelsThe 4.5-inch size centred on a cream cushion cover gives a nursery room that hand-illustrated art print vibe without any frame needed
  • Baby shower favour bags and muslin favour wrapsWorks beautifully on fabric favour bags for baby showers because the simple line style reads clearly even on small surfaces
  • Mum and child matching tee chest pocketsPut the small size on matching chest pockets for a mum-and-kid tee set, sells well at markets
  • Framed hoop art as a nursery wall pieceHoop in a 6-inch embroidery hoop with raw fabric edges folded back and hang as nursery wall art, no extra framing required
  • Personalised anniversary gifts for new parentsPersonalise with a name underneath using a script font and gift it to new parents as a birth keepsake piece
  • Baby memory book fabric patchesIron-on patch version works on fabric pages of a baby memory book when you stitch on heavy interfacing first

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
