Heres the mum-and-child silhouette and theres alot of feeling packed into a 2-colour design. Mum on the left, side profile, hair pulled up loose. Lil one on the right, profile facing her. Theres five small red hearts scattered in the space between their faces, sorta floating up like breath. The whole composition reads as a moment, not a portrait.
Its all stitched in solid black silhouette so the design rests on the negative space round it. Bright red hearts punch through the centre. Two colours total, low colour change count, fast machine swap. Stitch counts run 12,016 at smallest size up to 36,912 at biggest. Density average sits at 701, moderate for a fill-heavy piece.
I get messages alot from mums and grandmums about silhouette designs, especially around mothers day. My godmother stitched the 6-inch on a lap quilt as a baby-shower gift in february. She sent me the photo of mum opening the gift and crying, honestly made my whole week.
Stitch on cream linen, white cotton canvas, soft sage or pale wheat for the cleanest read on the black family silhouettes. Skip patterned fabric here, the silhouette outline needs breathing room round it to actually read. Skip dark colours aswell, the black profiles dissapear against em and you lose the whole point.
Use a medium-weight cutaway stabiliser, the solid black fill needs proper backing or the cloth will pucker on the cheek and shoulder curves. Hoop tight, dont rush. Polyester thread holds the silhouette edge cleaner than rayon. The smallest red hearts are 5mm wide so slow the machine for those. Tag me on chat if the bobbin tension fights the design.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
