Drew up the paw-print valentine after months of dog-mom requests who wanted something for valentines that actually acknowledged their real valentine. The text is big and readable, done in a casual hand-lettered style with the word HAS standing out in slightly blockier satin stitching than the cursive parts. And the paw prints framing the bottom are kinda the whole point, they sit right under the word paws which makes it land just right.

Its a 2-colour design, black for all the script and outline work, red for the hearts and paw fill areas. Wilcom did the file digitising, and the underlay on the script letters is set so the black stays dense without bleed on thinner fabrics like jersey knit or a fleece pocket square. The paw detail stitching uses directional fill to give each pad a bit of roundness rather than just flat satin.

5 sizes in the file, from just over 3 inches up to about 6.7 inches wide. The larger hoop sizes are where this one really shines on tote bags or a hooded sweatshirt front. Customers keep asking me what stabiliser to use on stretchy fabric and I always say cutaway, dont swap it out for tearaway on knits or youll get distortion in the lettering. Use a 70/10 needle on jersey and youll have no issues with the satin sections pulling.

One customer ran the 5-in version on a canvas pet tote in natural cotton last month and posted the result on Insta. Looked exactly like what youd buy in a boutique shop. Stitch the big size on a tote and Pop it in a gift bag with some dog treats. Best use of a 5x7 hoop Ive seen for this one. Holler if anything looks off when you open the file and Ill sort it out straight away.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Valentine's Day dog mum tote bagStitch the 5-in version onto a natural cotton tote for a dog mum valentine gift that doesnt look generic.
  • Pet lover hoodie or sweatshirt frontPop the 6-inch version on a pullover hoodie chest, works great on fleece with cutaway stabiliser underneath.
  • Personalised dog bandana (hooped flat)Use the 3-in chest run on a flat cotton bandana, hoop it with tearaway and it trims clean.
  • Valentines card holder or fabric gift bagAdd to a small drawstring fabric bag as a gift wrap alternative for dog treats or toys.
  • Dog walker apron or utility pouchRun the 4-in version on a canvas apron pocket, pairs well with a paw border along the hem.
  • Kids' shirt for a pet-themed school partyPick the 3-in version for a child's cotton tee for a class party with a pet theme.
  • Pillow cover for a dog bed or reading nookStitch onto a linen pillow cover for the corner of a dog bed or a reading chair arm.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
